How to Clean Your Washer

28 Nov

Here are a few steps you can take to clean your washer to make it look and function like new, this will be especially helpful if you have an older washer like I do.

1. Start out by filling your washer up with water. If it is not already, set it to a large load.

2. When the washer is done filling with water, pour in 2-3 cups of white distilled vinegar. Let sit for 2 hours. (Do not run load during this time )

3. After an hour has passed you can then run the load as you normally would, but minus the clothes and laundry detergent.

4. Once the cycle is complete, take a q-tip dipped in vinegar and poke into the holes in the washer. You can also take a sponge and scrub anywhere you find grime. (My washer normally gets gross on the top of the “spinning pole thing” -you know what I mean! )

5. When you are done scrubbing,  fill up washer once again with water and run through one more cycle to get rid of any loose gunk from scrubbing. This will also help get rid of the vinegar smell. When this cycle is complete your washer should be looking brand new!

*If you would like, you can also choose to add bleach to your second cycle.
