DIY Glitter Ornaments

10 Dec

When I stumbled upon this project for DIY glitter ornaments on theornamentgirl.com, I knew that I just HAD to make some for my own tree!

The directions stated to use a pledge floor finish which retails for around $6, I instead decided to use a Suave extra hold hairspray which I was able to pick up for $2. The results look just as great, and my pocketbook thanked me!

You will need:

Clear glass ornaments (I found mine at Michaels-they were 50% off)

Glitter of your choice

Extra hold aerosol hairspray (I used Suave)

Directions:

1. Remove the metal cap on the ornament.

2. Spray the hairspray into the ornament for about 5 seconds.

3. The hairspray will initially be bubbly, wait until the bubbles dissipate, then swirl all around inside the ornament. Pour out any left over hairspray.

4. Pour your glitter into your ornament. If needed, you may want to use a funnel. Swirl the glitter all around making sure that the entire ornament is coated.

5. Let ornament dry overnight before putting the cap back on.

6. The next morning, take the metal wire out of the cap. Put the cap on, then put in the wire (this will keep the wire from scratching off the glitter).
